Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek revealed that 122,000 Year One pupils nationwide still lack basic 3M skills (reading, writing, counting) due to learning loss from the Covid-19 pandemic, poverty, and the needs of special children. She assured that interventions at state and federal levels, including the Anak Kita programme, are being implemented to improve the situation. Speaking at the Tekad Reformasi Pendidikan Programme in Kajang, Fadhlina also addressed the ministry’s efforts to ensure one counselling teacher per 250 students. She reiterated the government’s zero-tolerance for bullying, following an incident at a Kuala Lumpur boarding school, with firm action being taken.
