Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced that Phase 2 of the Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) payments has been brought forward to 10 March to help Malaysians prepare for Hari Raya Aidilfitri. A total of RM1.3 billion will be disbursed to 5.2 million recipients.

Social media users are vehemently unhappy with the situation. They feel that those who are eligible for such aid should not be out spending said aid frivolously. Furthermore, to add insult to injury, they are requesting for more aid to spend on more unnecessary things at the bazaars.
Others state that spending it all on a bazaar is an individualistic choice. Some may choose to make a small occasion and invite relatives home with quality home made meals.
