Takiyuddin Claims PAS Membership Guarantees Entry Into “Heaven”

PAS secretary‑general Takiyuddin Hassan has sparked controversy after claiming that those who join PAS are guaranteed entry into “heaven.” 

Speaking at a recent event, he said that anyone who dies defending Islam would be regarded as a martyr, blessed by God, and assured paradise. 

PAS Controversial Remarks Continue to Stir Debate

While acknowledging that the phrase “joining PAS means entering heaven” is often used by opponents to mock the party, Takiyuddin insisted PAS’ struggle is rooted in Islam and aligned with divine teachings.

The Kota Bharu MP also highlighted PAS’ support from religious scholars and claimed the party now has one million members nationwide, excluding overseas supporters. 

His remarks drew sharp criticism from Mujahid Yusof Rawa, Amanah deputy president and former religious affairs minister, who called the statement baseless and accused PAS of narrowing Allah’s mercy by linking it to party membership. 

Mujahid urged authorities to investigate and demanded an apology if Takiyuddin had no intent to mislead.

However, PAS found support from Khairuddin Aman Razali, Umno ulama council deputy chairman, who argued Takiyuddin was merely reiterating that rewards and paradise can be attained through politics aligned with Islam. 

He added that any missteps by PAS leaders should be corrected, as no one is immune from mistakes.
