KUALA LUMPUR, June 2 – Malaysian cinema in 2026 continues to thrive with diverse releases spanning rempit dramas, cyber thrillers, boxing sagas and horror. The standout hit remains Tarung: Unforgiven, which has surpassed RM20 million since its May 7 release. Joining the wave are The Furious: Pertaruhan Maruah and Polong, both premiering nationwide on May 28. The Furious, a boxing‑driven family drama directed by Heng Aik Siong, has earned over RM1 million, while Zulkarnain Azhar’s horror thriller Polong has reached RM5.5 million.

Both films are drawing strong audiences through screenings and promotional events. Local productions are holding their ground against international titles such as India’s Karuppu and South Korea’s Colony, which has grossed RM17 million. Hollywood releases like The Mandalorian and Grogu and Backrooms also compete for attention, but Malaysian films continue to sustain momentum. Upcoming releases in June include 5 Bomoh, Kata Hati and Khadam.
