ALOR SETAR, Oct 13, 2026: An 18-year-old teenager was allegedly held captive for two days, tortured, humiliated and beaten to death by a group of men who accused him of stealing a motorcycle in a crime police described as a shocking act of vigilante justice.
Kedah police said the victim was abducted in Pendang on Oct 5 and taken to a house in Gurun, where he was confined for two days by his captors.
During the ordeal, the teenager was repeatedly assaulted, subjected to physical abuse and had his hair cut before succumbing to his injuries on the night of Oct 7.
His body was allegedly dumped by the roadside near Jalan Harvard in Gurun and was discovered by members of the public the following morning.
Motorcycle Theft
Kedah police chief Datuk Adzli Abu Shah said a post-mortem found the victim died from blunt force trauma to the head.
Investigations revealed the attack was allegedly triggered by complaints from local residents who claimed the victim had stolen a motorcycle. However, police found no report had been lodged regarding the alleged theft.
Following the discovery of the body, police launched an intensive operation and arrested 14 local males aged between 16 and 24 within hours. Officers also seized mobile phones, a car, a pair of scissors believed to have been used to cut the victim’s hair and an identity card believed to belong to him.
Police said the case highlights the dangers of individuals taking the law into their own hands, stressing that suspicions of theft can never justify confinement, torture or fatal violence.
