Malaysia men’s squad started the 2022 Thomas Cup campaign by defeating England with a 5-0 victory in the first match of Group D, today. They meet the United States tomorrow before facing Japan in the final group action on Wednesday.
At Impact Arena, Bangkok, Thailand, the men’s singles champion, Lee Zii Jia who is now a professional defeated Toby Penty with straight set wins 21-10 and 21-15 in 36 minutes. Men’s doubles Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik who bounced back from a 19-21 first set defeat over England pair Ben Lane -Sean Vendy before winning the next two sets 21-15, 21-16. Young singles player, Ng Tze Yong confirmed the victory for Malaysia when he beat opponent Johnnie Torjussen 21-16 and 19-21 and 21-11.
National second doubles Nur Izzuddin Rumsani-Goh Sze Fei beat Rory Easton-Zach Russ 21-13, 21-9 and third singles Leong Jun Hao completed our victory with a 21-11 win over Cholan Kayan, 21-18. @LatestMalaysia
