Two Five-Star Hotels in Melaka Lose Halal Certificates Over Alcohol Party

The Melaka state government has revoked the halal certificates of two five-star hotels in Banda Hilir after the Melaka Islamic Religious Department (JAIM) discovered a party resembling an alcohol-themed event involving the use of halal-certified kitchen equipment.

State Religious Affairs Exco Rahmad Mariman said strict action was taken after it was found that alcohol containers were used alongside halal kitchen tools. The revocation was made under the Malaysian Halal Certification Procedure Manual 2020. 

Both hotels have been given three months to reapply. Rahmad stressed that the state government will not organise official events at hotels without halal certification, while 30 other hotels will be closely monitored.
