Anwar and Li Qiang Agree to Deepen ASEAN-China Strategic Ties

Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and Chinese Premier Li Qiang have agreed to deepen strategic ties, with a focus on regional cooperation through the ASEAN-GCC-China Summit, held in Kuala Lumpur.

Anwar, representing Malaysia as ASEAN Chair 2025, highlighted China’s continued commitment to collaboration in areas like the economy, halal industry, green energy, artificial intelligence, and infrastructure, including the East Coast Rail Link. Anwar also underscored the importance of solidarity within the Global South. 

Premier Li arrived ahead of the ASEAN-GCC-China and 2nd ASEAN-GCC Summits, seen as key platforms to boost economic integration, inclusivity, and sustainability in the region.
