PETALING JAYA, Sept 14 — Sepang Umno chief Noorazli Said has apologised for remarks made about priests during the recent Umno General Assembly, acknowledging they may have caused misunderstanding in Malaysia’s multi-religious society.
Noorazli explained that the story was intended purely as an analogy to highlight focus, perseverance and wisdom, not to insult or belittle any religion.

“If my remarks have caused any misunderstanding or offended anyone, particularly Christians, I humbly offer my apologies,” he said, adding that he respected all faiths and would be more careful in future.
Umno Youth chief Dr Akmal Saleh had earlier urged Noorazli to issue an immediate apology, stressing that religion should never be turned into a joke. Sabah BN chairman Datuk Arthur Kurup also called for an unconditional apology, saying the remarks were offensive and hurtful to Malaysian Christians.
Noorazli said he hoped his explanation would ease tensions and preserve harmony.
