MCA president Wee Ka Siong suggested the government consider targeted RON95 fuel subsidies based on vehicle type and value instead of personal income. In a TikTok video, Wee proposed that drivers of modest cars like Perodua Myvi or Alza receive full subsidies, while those with luxury vehicles, such as Mercedes or Ferrari, should forgo the benefit. He emphasized that people practicing financial moderation shouldn’t be penalized. Supporting this, Dr. Noor Azlan Ghazali of Minda-UKM recommended basing subsidies on engine capacity, ensuring lower-income groups receive aid, while wealthier individuals with larger vehicles would pay full price for fuel.
