Netizens are talking about their youthful days when schools organised an open day for the outsiders and students alike. That day is usually called “hari kantin,” in direct translation to English, it is called canteen day. Usually, on canteen days, coupons that replaced currency must be purchased to be able to spend at the booths

Some were asking if these types of events were a “scam.” In a way, it was for the schools to raise extra income, thus some profits will be taken for the school. Many stated that it was a good opportunity for students to learn entrepreneurship skills as they could open a booth to sell items to visitors.

SCAM?

There were those that agreed that it was a scam as a club would have to sell items that are sponsored by the members at a marked up price, then eventually the family of the club members would then purchase these items. However, canteen days are generally open for the public and many times would be packed with visitors.
