Burberry In Hot Waters For New Campaign

1 min read

Having a social justice mode for your brand is fine if it’s within reason. However, for luxury brands, they tend to skew away from political agendas as their main prerogative is to sell luxury goods to well to do customers. Burberry on the other hand, is taking their agenda to another level.

Burberry’s new campaign

According to Libs of TikTok’s Twitter account, the luxury brand has posted new photos on their Instagram page of a trans man and a woman holding each other. It does send a message, but most Twitter users are upset at the campaign.

There were a number of customers claiming that they’ll never purchase a Burberry item again. Most of the negative comments were not about the models being transgender or not, but more on the aesthetic of the photo.

Some were also supportive of the luxury brand’s decision to post content like that, but the majority is still against it. Some were crying out for Burberry’s old days where they had regular advertisements showing off their clothes instead of two naked people embracing each other.
