KUALA LUMPUR, July 22, 2026 – A new pairing in Malaysian badminton will be tested when Aaron Chia partners rising star Aaron Tai at the China Open in Changzhou, beginning tomorrow.
The duo was formed after Chia was split from long-time partner Soh Wooi Yik, who now plays with Man Wei Chong. The Chia-Tai combination will compete in three tournaments before Chia teams up with Tee Kai Wun for the European tour in October.

Their opening challenge is formidable, facing India’s world No.4 pair Satwiksairaj Rankireddy-Chirag Shetty in the first round. Chia acknowledged the partnership is still in its trial phase but expressed optimism, praising Tai’s talent and recent progress, including a quarterfinal run at the Japan Open.
The reshuffle marks a significant tactical move by the national coaching setup.
