The Malaysian Islamic Youth Movement (Abim) condemned an Indian media outlet, Firstpost, for mocking Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s offer to mediate the India-Pakistan conflict after a deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir. Abim president Ahmad Fahmi Samsudin called the outlet’s conduct unprofessional, arguing it undermines international diplomacy amid rising tensions between the nuclear-armed nations. Fahmi emphasized the conflict’s global economic and geopolitical implications. Firstpost’s journalist Palki Sharma labeled Anwar’s offer “absurd,” claiming Malaysia’s lack of neutrality due to Anwar’s reference to “India-administered Kashmir” and perceived pro-Pakistan stance, sparking criticism for dismissing Malaysia’s diplomatic initiative.
