Malaysia has received approval from Kuwait to acquire secondhand F/A-18C/D Hornets for the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF), serving as a temporary solution while waiting for the delayed Multirole Combat Aircraft (MRCA) programme. While adding to its fleet of Hornets may seem cost-effective, concerns arise over the maintenance challenges and aging technology of the Kuwaiti jets. The incompatibility of spare parts and differing system upgrades could complicate upkeep.
