SEPANG: AirAsia X announced a new route to Nairobi, Kenya, targeting 156,000 travelers annually. CEO Benyamin Ismail highlighted the strong travel demand between ASEAN and Africa, particularly to Malaysia.

“We are excited to announce Kenya as a new destination in our network, aligning with our vision of establishing Asia as a global hub,” he said at the launch. The first flight is set for November 15, 2024, with fares starting at RM471. The expansion aims to connect Malaysia, Oceania, and Africa efficiently. Tourism Malaysia chairman Datuk Yasmin Mahmood also attended the launch. AirAsia had a failed experience with its first Africa route to Mauritius in the past. Mauritius is part of Africa.
