Anthony Loke to Complete China Visit Before Managing Resignation Process

Transport Minister Anthony Loke will continue his scheduled official duties in China before returning to Malaysia to handle matters related to his proposed resignation from the Cabinet.

The Transport Ministry said Loke will represent Malaysia at the 12th APEC Transport Ministers Meeting in Beijing, where he is also scheduled to hold bilateral meetings and witness the signing of two memoranda of understanding.

One MoU covers transport cooperation between Malaysia and China across land, rail, maritime, aviation and logistics sectors. The second involves aviation safety cooperation between Malaysia’s Civil Aviation Authority and China’s aviation authority, covering areas such as airworthiness, personnel licensing, operational oversight and recognition of compliance certificates. 

After completing his Beijing programme, Loke is scheduled to travel to Shanghai as part of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s delegation before returning home.

Loke offered to resign as Transport Minister following the conditional pardon granted to former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak. He said DAP respected the Yang di-Pertuan Agong’s constitutional authority but maintained its own position on the matter.
