Zahid Denies Being Summoned by Tuanku Muhriz

BN chairman Ahmad Zahid Hamidi denied reports that he and Negeri Sembilan Menteri Besar Ismail Lasim were summoned to meet Yang di‑Pertuan Besar Negeri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir, in Kuala Lumpur yesterday. 

Zahid said he only learned of the matter through media coverage, stressing that neither he nor Ismail had been instructed to appear before the ruler.

Zahid: BN Leadership Only Learned From Media

“Tiada. Saya dan Menteri Besar Negeri Sembilan tidak pernah dititah untuk menghadap. Kami tahu hanya daripada media sahaja,” Zahid was quoted by Harian Metro after officiating the University Research and Innovation Investment Summit (EURES) 2026.

Media outlets had earlier reported that Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim met Tuanku Muhriz at Istana Negeri Sembilan, Changkat Persekutuan, for nearly an hour amid tensions involving the royal institution and the state administration. 

Those reports also suggested Zahid and Ismail were present alongside Anwar.

Zahid’s denial comes as speculation continues over the political situation in Negeri Sembilan. The meeting between Anwar and Tuanku Muhriz has drawn attention, but Zahid insists BN leadership was not part of the audience. 

The clarification underscores the sensitivity of royal engagements and the importance of accurate reporting in the midst of ongoing political developments.
