African Swine Fever Confirmed in Selangor Wild Boar Carcasses, Says Perhilitan

Six wild boar carcasses found in Selangor between April and May have tested positive for African Swine Fever (ASF), confirmed via PCR testing on May 20. The Selangor Wildlife Department (Perhilitan) and Veterinary Services Department handled testing and containment procedures.

ASF poses no risk to humans or other animals but is fatal and highly contagious among pigs. Perhilitan is working with local councils and agencies to monitor and disinfect affected areas. Residents are urged not to touch wild animal remains and to report such findings via Perhilitan’s hotline. The public is also advised against spreading unverified information.
