Average Monthly Salary in Malaysia Rises to RM3,803 in 2025

Average monthly salaries and wages among Malaysian citizens increased 4.1% to RM3,803 in 2025, compared with RM3,652 in 2024, according to the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM).

The median monthly salary also rose 5.3% to RM2,940 from RM2,793, indicating continued growth in both average and middle-income earnings during the year.

DOSM said the number of monthly wage recipients increased to 12.01 million, including 10.38 million Malaysian citizens. The services sector accounted for 71.5% of wage recipients, while mining and quarrying recorded the highest average monthly pay at RM6,175.

This was followed by services at RM3,993, manufacturing at RM3,357, construction at RM3,188 and agriculture at RM2,575. 

Skilled workers recorded the highest average monthly salary among skill categories at RM5,799, while semi-skilled workers averaged RM2,714 and low-skilled workers RM2,184.

Putrajaya recorded the highest state-level average at RM5,417, followed by Kuala Lumpur at RM4,955 and Selangor at RM4,258. DOSM said continued productivity, skills development and creation of higher-value jobs remain important for sustainable wage growth.
