KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 10 — Transport Minister Anthony Loke has called on Malaysians to avoid intimidation over mistakes in displaying the Jalur Gemilang, warning that such actions risk overshadowing National Day celebrations. He criticised threats to protest or “teach” offenders, labelling them as bullying. Loke stressed that enforcement of flag display laws is the police’s responsibility and should follow the Rule of Law. His remarks came after a Penang hardware store owner was arrested for hoisting the flag upside down. Umno Youth chief Datuk Dr Akmal Saleh plans to protest at the store tomorrow over the incident.
