Malaysians love their food to the point that we have a 20% obesity rate. However, in 2022, 1 in 2 adults in Malaysia are overweight. This is a major concern as being overweight can come with a number of complications. Diabetes and heart conditions are the major issues that are generally coupled with individuals being overweight.
Obesity rates are a concern in Malaysia
In a now deleted tweet, a user was talking about how another netizen was “rich” enough to be able to afford to eat a high quantity of food everyday. However, this has gotten said by netizens in a huge backlash as it seems as though the video was promoting obesity. Another Twitter user states that we should not encourage others to eat too much.
Netizens state that when they were overweight, they had a multitude of health issues. But when they decide to lose weight, they feel healthier. Furthermore, one user states that she lost over 45 kgs after changing her lifestyle for the better.
