The Johor Bahru High Court has upheld the 10-year prison sentence for Rosmaini Abdul Raof, the ex-husband of Jahidah Nordin, who was convicted of causing grievous injuries to her four years ago.

The court rejected both Rosmaini’s appeal and the prosecution’s cross-appeal for a longer sentence. Jahidah, who was pregnant at the time of the assault, suffered severe brain injuries and later gave birth to a son with disabilities.

The judge noted Rosmaini’s sole access to the crime scene and his admission of violence. Despite sympathy for the victim, the court declined to increase the sentence.
