A viral incident in Mont Kiara has stirred debate after a Shiba Inu dog was reportedly brought into a halal‑certified Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf outlet. The matter was highlighted by Halal Inquiry Company on Facebook, which criticised the act as disrespectful and urged management to review CCTV footage. Online reactions were mixed: some demanded JAKIM revoke the café’s halal certificate, while others called for tolerance and compromise.

Coffee Bean Malaysia managing director Datuk M. Amar Shah clarified that initial findings suggest the dog was at the outdoor seating area, not inside the dining space. He stressed the company’s strict adherence to halal guidelines, describing the case as isolated. To prevent future misunderstandings, the chain will reinforce staff training, improve signage, and ensure customers are advised of its no‑pets policy. Amar Shah apologised for any concern caused, assuring hygiene standards remain a priority. — Apr 19, 2026.
