An elderly woman in her 70s was injured after being attacked with a machete by her husband in Taman Desa Sejahtera, Kota Tinggi, Johor.
Kota Tinggi District Police Chief Superintendent Yusof Othman said the District Control Centre received a report on 5 September from a member of the public about the incident.
Elderly Woman Taken to Kota Tinggi Hospital, Now Stable
Police officers from the Kota Tinggi District Headquarters rushed to the scene and arrested the suspect, a local man in his 70s.
Investigations revealed the attack occurred after an argument when the victim increased the volume of the television.
The suspect, who was intoxicated at the time, then slashed his wife with a machete, leaving her bleeding from her right hand.
The victim was taken to Kota Tinggi Hospital for treatment and is reported to be in stable condition.
Authorities have opened an investigation under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt with a weapon. If convicted, the suspect could face up to 10 years in prison, a fine, caning, or a combination of these punishments.
