A 40-year-old engineer lost RM71,000 to an online investment scam after being lured by a Facebook ad promising high returns from a so-called Chinese firm. According to Kemaman police chief Supt Mohd Razi Rosli, the victim initially earned RM600, which built his trust and led him to invest larger amounts between May 27 and June 26.

The scam came to light when he received no further payouts and was unable to contact the promoter. Authorities urge the public to verify all investment schemes with the Securities Commission Malaysia and report suspicious activity to the National Scam Response Centre (NSRC) at 987.
