Singaporean Now Charged in Johor Bahru Road Rage Incident

JOHOR BAHRU, Aug 21 — A 46-year-old Singaporean man, Gary Lim Kian Liang, has been charged with obstructing a police officer and attacking a Malaysian woman during a road rage incident. Lim faces three charges, including possession of a dangerous weapon, voluntarily causing hurt with a dangerous weapon, and obstructing a public servant, according to Malay Mail. He claimed trial and did not indicate a plea.

The incident occurred late on Aug. 15 when Lim allegedly assaulted a 30-year-old woman. Hours later, he was involved in a physical altercation with police near the Sultan Iskandar Building. Investigations revealed Lim allegedly carried an 8.5cm knife without a permit. In a related case, 28-year-old Malaysian G. Thinesh Kumar was charged with intentionally injuring Lim using a motorcycle helmet. Both men were granted bail — RM20,000 for Lim and RM5,000 for Thinesh. Their cases were adjourned to September.
