JOHOR BAHRU, Aug 23 — A bus driver has won praise online after stepping off his bus in the rain to scold car drivers blocking the dedicated bus lane near the Johor Bahru customs checkpoint. The incident, captured on video and shared by Instagram user @jon_tri_fast on Aug. 20, has since gone viral with over 367,000 views by Aug. 23.
The footage shows the driver, wearing a neck pillow, approaching cars that had encroached into the bus lane. He knocked on the window of one vehicle bearing a Singapore licence plate, prompting cheers from passengers who applauded his actions.
Bus Driver Praised
“This is a bus lane, but look at the cars blocking the way. Our driver went down to scold them,” a passenger remarked in Mandarin and dialect. Another quipped, “Traffic police man this one,” while others praised his courage with “Mai siao siao. Steady.”
The video later shows a Malaysian police officer approaching one of the cars, with the driver handing over a passport before being instructed to move along. In Singapore, motorists caught cutting queues at checkpoints are turned away and required to re-queue, according to the Immigration and Checkpoints Authority (ICA).
