In a strange dabble on X, the former Minister in the Najib Razak’s PMO who is known for being vocal about issues touching the Malay community questions the 24-years jail sentencing of a ‘preacher’ who is condemned for ‘assault’ of a teen. The outspoken personality asks if it is right for the judge to do so, that is impose the 24-year sentencing for touching or doing more than touching the private parts of a boy who he says is 17 and thus nearly an adult. The ex-Umno man also asks whether there was consent. In the first place, the question should be who gave the title of ‘ustaz’ to the condemned? Many on internet are asking that question. Some in WhatsApp groups are lamenting the 24 years is too long…But is that not what the law provides, that is such sentencing? Should the PUs not be aware of the consequences of the crimes they commit? Or are they special people now?
