Farmers in France and Greece staged major demonstrations against the EU’s proposed Mercosur trade deal with South American nations. In Paris, about 100 tractors blocked roads near the National Assembly, the Arc de Triomphe, and the Eiffel Tower, demanding President Emmanuel Macron oppose the pact.

In Greece, farmers launched a 48‑hour blockade of highways, citing rising costs and fears of cheap imports undermining local agriculture. Organizers warned the deal could devastate Greek farming, where production costs are far higher than in Latin America. Despite government concessions, protesters vowed to continue until stronger protections are secured for Europe’s agricultural sector.
