Singapore Man Jailed 15 Months for Sending Pork to Mosques

A 62-year-old man, Tan Keng Hwee, was sentenced to 15 months’ jail in Singapore on May 11 for sending pork slices and offensive notes to seven mosques, alongside the personal details of a woman he blamed for losing his job. Tan pleaded guilty to three charges of wounding religious feelings under the Maintenance of Religious Harmony Act.

One harassment charge, with five other counts are considered. Prosecutors said he “weaponised religion” to retaliate, while the judge described his actions as calculated and inflammatory. Tan mailed the packages in September 2025, prompting police reports and public alarm.
