Johannesburg, South Africa | 22 July 2026, The second edition of the Food Show South Africa Expo, held alongside the Food Pack and Process Expo 2026, officially commenced on 22 July 2026 at the Gallagher Convention Centre in Johannesburg. The international trade exhibition has brought together stakeholders from across the food, beverage, food processing, packaging and manufacturing sectors, reinforcing South Africa’s role as a key gateway to African markets.
Running from 22 to 24 July 2026, the exhibition has attracted exhibitors and business delegates from South Africa, India, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, China, Egypt and several other countries. The event serves as a strategic platform for companies seeking new business opportunities, cross-border partnerships, technology transfer and market expansion within Africa’s growing food economy.
The opening ceremony witnessed the presence of senior representatives from diplomatic missions, government agencies, trade organizations and industry associations.
Global Food Industry’s 2nd Food Show in South Africa
The programme began with welcoming remarks by Mr. Ebi Lockhat, Communications Director of the South African National Halaal Authority (SANHA), who emphasized the importance of global cooperation in strengthening food trade, maintaining high food safety standards and advancing Halaal certification across international markets. He also welcomed exhibitors, buyers and delegates participating from various countries.
Delivering the keynote address, Mr. Soliman A. Alhumeidan, Commercial Attaché representing the Saudi General Authority of Foreign Trade, spoke on the expanding commercial relationship between Saudi Arabia and African nations. He highlighted increasing opportunities for collaboration in agriculture, food manufacturing and processing, while encouraging businesses to pursue long-term investment partnerships.
Speaking on behalf of the South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SACCI), Mr. Neil Pollock, Vice President, noted that international trade exhibitions continue to play an essential role in connecting local enterprises with overseas markets. He emphasized that such events stimulate innovation, encourage investment and contribute to sustainable economic development.
Ms. Bernadette Zeiler, Chief Executive Officer of the Johannesburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI), welcomed the international delegation and highlighted Johannesburg’s strategic importance as a regional business and logistics hub. She encouraged participating companies to leverage the exhibition as a gateway to expanding across African markets.
The inauguration was also attended by Ms. Kgomotso Austin from the Science and Technology Department of the Embassy of Switzerland to South Africa, representing the Embassy during the ceremony.
The Special Address was delivered by His Excellency Mr. Senkuttvan Koventhan, Consul General of India in Johannesburg, who spoke about the growing economic and commercial partnership between India and South Africa. He highlighted opportunities for increased collaboration in food processing, agri-business, value-added food products, packaging technologies and manufacturing, while congratulating the organizers for creating an effective international business platform.
The inaugural ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Ebi Lockhat, who acknowledged the support of government representatives, diplomatic missions, exhibitors, industry associations, conference partners, sponsors, media and trade visitors for contributing to the successful launch of the exhibition.
The South African National Halaal Authority (SANHA) serves as the Strategic Partner for the exhibition, while the South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SACCI) and the Johannesburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) are supporting industry partners. The exhibition is organized by Astrovision Global FZCO in association with the Consulate General of India, Johannesburg, with Genesis Global Ex serving as the Conference Partner. The 2nd Food Show South Africa Expo 2026, co-located with the Food Pack and Process Expo, will continue until 24 July 2026 at the Gallagher Convention Centre, welcoming importers, exporters, distributors, wholesalers, retailers, hospitality professionals, manufacturers and investors from across South Africa and the wider African region.
