Sabah’s ruling coalition, Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS), is facing internal friction over seat allocation ahead of the state election expected by November. Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, who chairs GRS, has called for a closed-door meeting with coalition party presidents to address rising tensions.

The United Sabah National Organisation (Usno), which has no seats, is demanding at least eight constituencies, sparking criticism and counter-attacks from other parties. Senior leaders like Jeffrey Kitingan and Yong Teck Lee have called for maturity and unity, warning against the dominance of any single party. Hajiji is also exploring a pact with Pakatan Harapan, a move some GRS partners oppose.
