The Kuala Lumpur High Court has slated January 27–29 and March 1–5, 2027, to adjudicate preliminary issues in the civil suit filed by former research assistant Muhammed Yusoff Rawther against Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. Presiding over the case, Judicial Commissioner Raja Ahmad Mohzanuddin Shah Raja Mohzan—whose transfer to the Ipoh High Court took effect on November 1—will continue to conduct proceedings. Counsel Muhammad Rafique Rashid Ali stated that his client is expected to deliver testimony via Zoom from an overseas location during the January proceedings, with court scheduling taking time zone variances into account. A physical case management session on November 27 will establish the exact timeline for remote testimony.

The action, initially filed in July 2021 before Anwar assumed office as Prime Minister, centres on civil allegations of sexual assault and trespass to the person. Defense representatives previously sought to explore whether constitutional provisions insulate a sitting Prime Minister from civil litigation stemming from pre-office conduct. With the trial parameters formalizing, the preliminary hearings will determine procedural and threshold legal questions before full trial proceedings move forward.
