Internal political tensions within Perikatan Nasional (PN) surfaced after PAS Deputy President Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man revealed that Bersatu declined to attend key seat-allocation discussions ahead of the Melaka election. Despite invitations, Bersatu omitted sending delegates to coalition negotiation tables and subsequently opted to field candidates directly against PN nominees while maintaining its structural membership inside the coalition. The strategy created friction between member parties as campaign machinery rolled out across state constituencies.

In parallel discussions, PAS Information Chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari cautioned against rigid allocation stances, warning that continuous discord within PN could inadvertently push rival parties like Umno into closer alignment with Pakatan Harapan (PH). Despite the candidate overlaps, Tuan Ibrahim noted that field campaigning had proceeded smoothly overall without major operational incidents. However, the dispute over candidate selection highlights broader strategic differences within the opposition bloc as constituent parties seek to maximize their legislative footprint across upcoming polls.
