A tragic incident occurred off the coast of Indonesia when Italian surfer Giulia Manfrini, 36, was fatally struck by a swordfish while surfing near Masokut Island in the Mentawai Islands. The fish’s pointed bill pierced her chest, causing a fatal 5cm deep wound. Despite being rushed to a nearby health clinic, she did not survive. Manfrini, a passionate surfer, was vacationing in the region, known for its surf spots. The Hidden Bay Resort, where she stayed, expressed their sorrow, describing her as someone who loved the area and surfing deeply.
