KUALA LUMPUR, March 24 — Owners and management of Fortune Perdana Lakeside Residensi in Kepong are urging authorities to provide rubbish collection services. Currently, the management corporation must hire private contractors due to the apartment’s commercial status, costing about RM60,000 annually.

Residents argue that since they pay assessment tax to DBKL, they should be entitled to collection by Alam Flora. Former residents’ association chairman William Chai said excluding 576 residential units was unfair, despite shoplots requiring different waste management. DBKL has rejected four appeals, citing 2018 regulations. Parti Rakyat Malaysia representatives joined residents in pressing for a fair resolution.
