The Malay-language comedy La Luna has been selected as Singapore’s official entry for Best International Feature Film at the 97th Academy Awards in 2025. Directed by M Raihan Halim, the film is a collaboration between Singapore’s Clover Films and Papahan Films, alongside partners from Malaysia and Hong Kong. La Luna tells the story of Hanie, a woman who opens a lingerie shop in a conservative Malaysian village. Released in 2023, the film has already garnered international attention, playing at prestigious festivals such as Tokyo and Rotterdam, highlighting Singapore’s multilingual and multicultural storytelling.
