Sanusi Issues LOD Against PKR’s Sathia Over Misquote Claim

1 min read

Kedah Menteri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Nor has issued a letter of demand (LOD) to PKR Selangor election director Sathia Prakash Nadarajan, accusing him of misquoting remarks made during a recent campaign speech in Negeri Sembilan.

Sanusi’s original statement emphasized that Malays have no homeland beyond Malaysia, unlike other ethnic groups who can trace roots to countries such as China, India, Cambodia, or Thailand.

Sanusi alleged that his words were distorted, manipulated, and taken out of context, warning that more individuals may face similar legal action for misrepresentation. He said the move was intended to serve as a lesson against twisting or fabricating his speeches.

In response, Sathia and two colleagues lodged three separate police reports in Seremban, accusing Sanusi of repeatedly exploiting race, religion, and royalty (3R) narratives for political gain. He stressed that such rhetoric should no longer be tolerated.

The controversy has reignited debate over political messaging in Malaysia, with Malaysiakini publishing a transcript of Sanusi’s Jempol speech attended by over 300 people. Authorities are now reviewing both the police reports and Sanusi’s legal demands, underscoring heightened tensions around sensitive campaign narratives.
