Our Malaysian language, Bahasa Malaysia is one of the most important languages in the country as it is our national language. We do have other important languages as well, but more than half of the country speaks Malay. Recent dramas surrounding some are not able to speak the language have triggered locals.
Malaysians should speak Malay
Malaysians state that people do not have to be well versed in the language. The most important part is if they’re able to communicate with other people using the Malay language. However, there are some opposing this idea, stating that we are a multi-ethnic country, to which it is true.
But users state that we are not like Japan, where everyone is relatively Japanese. Despite this, for those who still chose to not learn Malay, netizens feel that they deliberately avoided learning the language. Regardless, there is no harm in learning our country’s national language.
