JOHOR BAHRU, 10 OCT, 2026 — A man with 16 previous criminal records, including drug, rape and robbery offences, was injured after being shot during a police chase in Jalan Gertak Merah here on Friday.
The 28-year-old suspect was allegedly driving a Honda City recklessly when police attempted to stop the vehicle. He reportedly fled, triggering a chase that lasted about one kilometre before crashing into several public vehicles.
Johor police chief Datuk Ab Rahaman Arsad said officers fired two shots after the suspect allegedly refused to stop and continued attempting to escape.

“One shot struck the suspect in the head while another hit the vehicle,” he told a press conference on Saturday.
The local suspect was injured and subsequently detained. A 29-year-old woman travelling with him was also arrested to assist investigations.
Police later found seven packets believed to contain ecstasy and 17 vape cartridges suspected of containing ketamine, with the seized drugs estimated to be worth RM6,350.
Checks revealed the male suspect had 16 previous criminal records involving drug offences, gang robbery, rape and vehicle theft. Both suspects also tested positive for methamphetamine.
The case is being investigated under several laws, including attempted murder and dangerous drug offences.
