ISTANBUL, June 5 – Jose Mourinho has lodged a complaint with the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) over disciplinary sanctions imposed while coaching Fenerbahce. The Strasbourg-based court confirmed receipt of his application on June 1 and requested observations from Turkey.

Mourinho is contesting a 600,000 lira fine and one-match ban issued by the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) after a fiery Super Lig clash with Trabzonspor in November 2024. He argues the panels lacked independence, failed to provide a reasoned verdict, and violated his right to free speech. Mourinho, now at Benfica, has also been linked with Real Madrid.
