A mother’s near half-hour wait outside a crowded mall lift has sparked fresh debate about lift etiquette. Posting on Threads as @thahirahsugarbabe, she shared a photo of her twin stroller lined up outside a shopping mall elevator.
She said she waited almost 30 minutes as lift after lift arrived full, leaving no room for her stroller, and claimed nobody offered to make space.

She also said she had her five-year-old daughter with her, and urged people who are able to take the escalator to walk a little further to find one, since some people actually need the lift.
She stressed that she isn’t trying to stop anyone from using the lifts, only asking shoppers to consider whether they need them. She also said mall operators should take a more active role, suggesting clearer priority signage and designated lifts for visitors with mobility needs.
The complaint is a familiar one. Other Malaysian parents have described being frustrated at lifts in malls like KLCC and IOI City Mall, and some netizens say they now ask able-bodied users to step out so parents with strollers can get in.
The sources don’t name the mall or say whether its management has responded.
