A car driver narrowly escaped death when the fuel tank of his Proton Wira Aeroback exploded while refueling at a petrol station in Repoh on Friday. The incident occurred around 4 PM, injuring the man, in his 40s, with glass shards from his vehicle.

Kangar District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Yusharifuddin Mohd Yusop, stated that the explosion happened suddenly while the man was refueling. The fire was fully extinguished by 4:25 PM after a 15-minute effort. Forensic investigations by the Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department revealed the fire originated from a reaction between a mobile phone and petrol vapors in the car. No criminal elements were found.
