A routine offshore emergency evacuation drill turned tragic when a safety lifeboat crashed during training near the Terengganu-Pahang waters at noon today. Four men were inside the enclosed lifeboat when its supporting cable suddenly snapped, causing the vessel to plunge four meters. All sustained severe injuries.
Emergency Drill
Rescuers rushed the victims to Hospital Sultanah Nur Zahirah, where three were pronounced dead upon arrival: Muhammad Faezuan Hakim Mohammad Bustaman, 28, Ahmad Fikri Zakaria, 38, and Nik Muhammad Hafifi Asri Ab Majid, 37. The fourth victim, Muhammad Taufik Mohd Ruslan, 36, from Ipoh, remains hospitalized with injuries. Autopsies are scheduled tomorrow.
