Japanese police have arrested a 33-year-old man who admitted to stabbing a bookshop worker in Osaka on Sunday (Nov 8), telling officers he held a grudge against society, a police spokesman told AFP, as reported by The Star.
The suspect was identified as Satoshi Okamoto. He allegedly used a kitchen knife to attack the worker at a branch of the national bookshop chain Maruzen & Junkudo in central Osaka, Japan’s second city.

The man admitted to the stabbing, the spokesman said. “I held a grudge against society as a whole,” he was quoted as telling officers.

AFP noted that violent crime is relatively rare in Japan, though there have been occasional stabbings and attacks in recent years by socially isolated people airing grievances against the wider world.
