The deal between PM Ismail Sabri Yaakob and the Pakatan Harapan — without Pejuang and Warisan — is perhaps more than an opposition-government deal to pacify the hyper-political game in Malaysia.
It may also mean it is the PH way to deal with Umno leader Ahmad Zahid Hamidi who has literally dumped Anwar Ibrahim in his bid to become PM since the fall of the second Tun Mahathir Mohamad regime.
But as usual, it is the PH risking more than it could imagine in this deal. In the Zahid deals, PH was led to believe Umno will support Anwar as PM. This did not happen.
Now with this deal, will PH gain or lose? Can they still trust anyone from Umno after being used numerous times by an Umno leader who wanted to achieve his personal agendas?
