This issue, which has surfaced before, has drawn strong reactions, with the photographers defending their actions, claiming that tourists are interfering with their livelihood. They reportedly charge RM5 to RM10 per photo. The group emphasized that their services are optional and that they don’t force anyone to pay. There are also claims that the the freelancers are foreigners, possibly from the Philippines. A visitor, Adib Mazlee, shared how his friend was barred from taking personal photos at the site.
