New: PKR bends to DAP and BN demands?

1 min read

Former PKR members are pointing to how PKR is seemingly capitulating to ally Democratic Action Party (DAP) and BN, the coalition led by former rival-turned-friend UMNO. PKR has listened to allies until now, ignoring demands by its own grassroots, some are saying. These demands are to carry out the PH manifesto. Former Keadilan leaders are also saying the same thing.

One of those is Stanley Tan, 54, who had served as a parliamentary officer to the Johor Bahru MP. He said PH is acting as it currently does after it has tasted federal power. “Instead of fulfilling the promises to your voters, you become the very thing you swore not to become in the first place,” Singapore’s Strait Times reported.

Nevertheless, for former Keadilan members, what is driving ex-party members and leaders to Bersama, the party newly created by Rafizi Ramli, is the chance it offers to reformasi believers to continue the fight for reforms. Something they cannot do now in PKR as the party, they say, have diverted from its origins. It has to be noted that up until now, Anwar’s party seems to have followed DAP’s lead in the state elections with disastrous results. DAP leaders have asked Anwar Ibrahim to hold the next General Elections in early 2027. Will Anwar’s party follow?
