Sept 3, 2026 — Kuala Lumpur – The High Court today heard testimony that RM25.3 million deposited into Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia’s (Bersatu) accounts was not political donations but payments made in return for projects under the Jana Wibawa programme. Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) investigator Mazery Mohd Zaini testified that the funds, transferred between September 2021 and November 2022, came from KCJ Engineering, Nepturis, Mamfor, Sutracom, and Datuk Seri Azman Yusoff.

Political Donations

Mazery stated that no receipts were issued by Bersatu, and evidence showed the money was linked to projects awarded after intervention by then Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin. Letters and directives signed by Muhyiddin allegedly influenced the Finance Ministry’s decisions, leading to multimillion-ringgit contracts, including roadworks in Negeri Sembilan, a police headquarters in Selangor, and upgrades in Pulau Indah.

Muhyiddin, 79, faces seven charges of abuse of power and money laundering involving RM425.3 million. Prosecutors argue the payments were quid pro quo for government projects, not voluntary contributions. The trial, presided over by Judge Noor Ruwena Md Nurdin, continues tomorrow with further cross-examination.
